Who we are
The High Backs is a community garden charity based in Burnhill, Rutherglen, Scotland. You can contact us at highbacksadmin [@] gmail.com.
What personal data we collect
We collect personal data through three routes on this website.
Contact form: when you submit a message using our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
Event sign-ups: when you register for an event, we collect your name and email address. Some events may ask for additional information (such as dietary requirements) - this will be made clear on the sign-up form.
Newsletter sign-up: if you choose to subscribe to our newsletter using the sign-up form on this website, we collect your email address.
Why we collect it and the legal basis
Contact form data is collected so that we can respond to your enquiry. Our legal basis is legitimate interests - responding to a message you have chosen to send us is a reasonable and proportionate use of your data.
Event sign-up data is collected to manage your registration and communicate with you about the event. Our legal basis is contract - you are providing your details as part of registering for an activity.
Newsletter sign-up data is collected so that we can send you updates about The High Backs, including news and upcoming events. Our legal basis is consent - you are actively choosing to subscribe, and you can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter we send.
How long we keep your data
Contact form data is kept for as long as your enquiry is active and for a short period after it is resolved (typically up to three months). It is then deleted.
Event attendee data is kept until the event has taken place and any immediate follow-up is complete, and is deleted within three months of the event.
Newsletter subscriber data is kept for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your details will be removed from our contacts list within one month. We review our subscriber list annually.
Who has access to your data
Your data is stored securely through Wix, the platform that hosts this website. Wix processes data on our behalf and is subject to a Data Processing Agreement. Your data is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for any purpose other than those described above.
Cookies
This website uses only essential cookies - small files that are placed on your device automatically by Wix, the platform that hosts this site. Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function. They are used to keep the site secure, ensure the contact form works correctly, and maintain basic functionality as you move between pages.
This website does not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking tools. No information about your browsing is shared with any third party for tracking purposes.
Because we only use essential cookies, we are not required by law to ask for your consent to use them. You do not need to accept or decline anything when you visit this site.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Please be aware that disabling all cookies may affect how some parts of the site function.
If we add any non-essential cookies in future - for example, if we introduce an analytics tool - we will update this notice and activate a cookie consent banner on the site.
