Groups & activities
Whether you're looking for an after school club, a creative outlet, some fresh air, or just somewhere to be - there's a social group at the High Backs for you.
Here's what we run regularly.

Monday Family Hub
Every Monday, 4.30-6.30pm
A weekly after school club for kids of all ages - games, activities, and good fun in and outdoors. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
Burnhill MENding Minds
Every Tuesday, 7-8pm
A men's group meeting every Tuesday - a supportive space for men to talk, listen, and connect. Run in partnership with the Burnhill MENding Minds group. Find out more on their Facebook page.

Knitting Group
Fortnightly on Tuesdays, 11am-12.30pm
Come along for cake, a cuppa and a chat - whether you're an experienced knitter or picking up needles for the first time, everyone is welcome. Margaret can even show you how to knit with no needles at all!
Coffee Afternoon
Last Wednesday of every month, 12-2pm
A monthly social group for anyone who fancies a chat and some company - no need to book, just turn up. Pop in for a cuppa, a blether, and some good company. Just come as you are and stay as long as you like.

Soulful Seasons
Monthly on Thursdays, 5.30-7pm
A creative and nurturing social group for women, with a different themed activity each month - from candle making to cake decorating to day trips. This group is currently full. Keep an eye on our Facebook for future group spaces.
Crafts & Enterprise Group
Limited space - book through Facebook
Our new Crafts Enterprise Group begins the first week of October 2026. It takes place each Thursday 5.30-7.30pm in the run up to Christmas. We'll be making soaps, candles, ceramics, and box frames to sell at our Christmas Event.

Cooking Class
Mondays 5.30-7.30pm (6 weeks)
A new cooking class led by Margaret begins on the 5th October 2026 and will last for 6 weeks. We have sampled the delicious soups and cakes Margaret makes for lots of our groups and events and can't wait to learn her secrets!
Weekend Gardening
Weekends - prior booking
Come and get your hands in the soil in our community garden. Our weekend growing sessions are open to anyone who wants to learn, grow, and enjoy the garden. These sessions are available on request - just get in touch and we'll book you in.
