The High Backs became a registered Scottish charity in 2024. It was a significant step for us - one that felt like it had been a long time coming as we watched the space grow, the programme expand, and more and more people come through the gate.
Registering with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) means the High Backs now has a formal constitution, a board of trustees, and the legal standing to apply for funding that wasn’t available before. It also means the organisation is publicly accountable -
anyone can look us up on the Scottish Charity Register and see exactly what we do and who is responsible for it.
None of that changes what the High Backs is, or who it’s for. The gate is still open. Everyone is still welcome. The same groups run, the same growing happens, and the same people turn up. What’s changed is the foundation underneath all of it - and that foundation is now built to last.
